This is Rico...this poor little guy was dumped in the dead of winter.
Rico was as skinny as could be at nine months old, was covered with ticks and very wild. We didn't realize how malnourished he was with his heavy winter coat, until we got our hands on him. Nothing but bones.
His mane and tail were covered in burrs and both were badly matted. We had to corner him in a stall, to begin getting the ticks off of him. Rico learned that it felt good to get scratched in his itchy spots, and get groomed, and he began to calm way down for us.
Rico also must have been surviving off peoples' dog food because we caught him eating our dogs food, on more than one occasion. He no longer has to look for food, he enjoys each meal to the fullest.
