Bounds Horse Haven Sanctuary

(top left ) This guy loved kids and would walk so slowly when he had one on his back. He had what we called the "Amos" yell. If another horse would pick on him, he would let out a LOUD scream!  Amos would always let us know when he was unhappy. What a sweet boy he was! He beat pneumonia and cancer, twice. But the third time, his body was just to weak and it was too much for him. We lost him to cancer.
Amos crossed over on September 2, 2016. He was 24 years old.

(second left) Alichi was one of the most misunderstood horses that ever came through our gates. He was such a sweet boy, one on one. He didn't care much for strangers, or more then one person trying to do anything with him. He suffered many years of abuse, but got to live his last six years with love and freedom to just be who he was. Our only requirement from this sweet boy was for him to let us tend to his medical issues and health care. He died with signs of liver failure. Alichi crossed over on June 11, 2018.  He was 27 years old.

(third left) This boy had almost starved to death twice before coming to us. It left him with a bad heart murmur. He would get so excited about his food, he would salivate. Giving him a treat would literally cause him to foam at the mouth. What a gentle soul! He loved other animals, and people.  Cimmy crossed over on January 4, 2014. He was 26 years old.

(bottom left)  Colonel was horribly abused in his life. He didn't know what being loved was until he was 21 years old.. Was a great leader of the herd!  Gentle, loved kids and kisses from all the ladies. He passed away from pneumonia.
Colonel crossed over on March 29, 2011, at the age of 27.

(top right)  Dear old Jake was one in a million! He was just bubbling over with personality. He would run from across the field  just to get a head rub. Jake crossed over on January 9, 2009 from liver  and  He was 27 year old.

(middle right)  Rocky loved life, kids and any horse. He was very quiet by nature. His heart belonged to a very special young lady and he made that quite clear.  She was the ONLY one to ride him!  Rocky loved to stand quietly, eating treats, while kids learned to groom on him. He died of a back injury, due to a stroke.
Rocky crossed over on May 9, 2011, at the age of 22.

(bottom right)  Treasure came from such an abusive past. She was our first rescue horse and BOY did we learn from her!  She taught us well how to handle an abused horse, with caution!  She loved lots of attention, once she learned to trust again. Treasure crossed over on July 19, 2007, from internal issues, due to foaling. Treasure, was a 6 year old. Here only a short time. But paved the way, for many more abused horses to enter our gates. We lost her, and her foal that night! A little filly, named "Jazzy". Although Treasure was treated like garbage in her former life, she became our biggest "Treasure"! What a horrific night! We will always miss her.

(All of the horses were under the care of a vet at the time of their passing.)

These horses are gone, but will never be forgotten!  We have lost eight beautiful souls in 16 years. ....WAY too many!

Rest in Peace, our precious babies. ☺♥♥♥

Horses that have passed, but live forever in our hearts!
May they all "Rest In Peace".
Though not related, Colonel and Rocky could easily have passed for brothers.
